The Mission of the Wayne Police Department is to professionally and consistently seek ways to affirmatively promote, preserve and deliver quality service and help provide for a high quality of life for all members of our community through enforcement of laws and ordinances, education and special services.
On behalf of the men and women of the Wayne Police Department who serve our community it is my pleasure to welcome you to your Police Department. We serve a population of over 5,500 and are tasked with fulfilling a wide range of law enforcement functions, both for the community and Wayne State College
Our duties include, but are not limited to:
- Protection of life and property
- Preservation of public peace
- Crime prevention and education
- Enforcement of state and local law
- Apprehension of known and suspected criminals
The Chief serves as the chief executive officer of the Police Department and is responsible for achieving the Police Department’s overall objectives. To carry out these objectives, the Chief relies on a dedicated staff of seven sworn police officers and five full-time dispatchers.
The men and women of your Police Department work 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and 365 days a year. Because of our size, many of us wear several hats and serve multiple functions, such as developing this webpage, allowing us to better serve you.
