Friends of the Library

Who are the Friends of the Wayne Public Library?

The Friends are a group of people who love books and reading; they are interested in helping the library continue to provide excellent service and programs for the entire community.

The Friends of the Library operates under the auspices of the Wayne Library Foundation, a non-profit organization. All finances are managed through the library foundation, an officially incorporated and audited entity. The Friends group decides how money raised by the Friends group will be spent. At the present time money will be used for library activities like programming and activities for children.

Some Friends of the Library may want to offer their time and talents to support library activities. Other Friends of the Library may choose to simply offer their moral and financial support.

How can I help the Friends volunteer at the Library?

There are several opportunities to volunteer at the library through the Friends organization. They include helping with the annual book sale, providing refreshments for library programs or assisting with storytimes and other children's programming, helping with publicity or with delivery of library materials to the retirement homes or shut-ins. In recent years the Friends have begun helping with the landscaping of the Library/Senior Center and are always thankful for willing hands to help.
