We will have 3 separate take and make's available to pick up on Monday, October 3rd: take and make mini ghost kit: create a mini ghost with the kit provided and bring your creation back to the library throughout the month of October to be displayed and hung from the Children's Room ceiling. Ghosts can be picked up at the end of the month.; Grab a book pumpkin take and make and create a festive pumpkin decoration out of a recycled book! Appropriate for those 13 and older.; Inktober challenge books will be available for grabs throughout the month of October. Take the challenge to draw one picture a day from the Inktober prompts! Finish filling out your Inktober booklet, show it to one of our staff members, and be entered into a drawing for an art prize at the end of the month!
Join us for New Adult Book Club! Tuesday, October 4th at 7 PM in the library conference room. We will be discussing The Song of Achilles by Madeline Miller. The story is told from the perspective of Patroclus who, exiled by his father to live in the court of Peleus, soon falls in love with his host's son, the superhuman Achilles: from childhood, his demi-god status means he is swifter, more beautiful and more skilled than all his peers.
Work on your creative projects with our Needle Night group Thursday nights at 6:30 PM at the library. Enjoy conversation and good company while working on your personal needlework projects. All kinds of decorative sewing and textile arts handicrafts are welcome.
Head to the back of the library on Tuesday, October 11th at 6 PM for Adult Coloring. Stop in for a relaxing night and good company. Colors, coloring sheets, and snacks are provided. Adult Coloring Night is sponsored by Pac N' Save.

Paint a pumpkin to enter our Pumpkin Painting Contest. Pumpkins will be provided; October 26th at 2:15 pm: After school story time with Kim.
After School coloring will take place on Friday, October 14th, and Friday, October 28th at 3:30 PM. Relax and get creative after a busy school week. Adults will be on hand for conversation. Coloring pages, art utensils of all kinds, and a light snack will be provided.
On the 14th, join us for a special After School Coloring with Pumpkin Painting! Paint a pumpkin to enter our Pumpkin Painting Contest. Pumpkins will be provided.
Test your knowledge of all things end of the 20th century with our decade-themed 90's Trivia Night on Friday October 14th, at 7 PM at Jonnie Byrd's (in The Coop). Costumes and themed costume groups are highly encouraged! Please stop in or call the library to register your team of 4-6. Space is limited, first-come, first-serve. Awards will be given to trivia winners, as well as for best costumes.
Show off your skills in our Pumpkin Painting Contest! Bring in your already-painted pumpkins to the library beginning Monday, October 17th through the 24th. Pumpkins will be displayed around the Library and will be evaluated by guest judges on Tuesday, October 25th from 1-2 PM. Age ranges for pumpkin judging and ribbon awards: 0-4, 5-8, 9-12, 13-18, and 19 years of age and older. Grand prizes will be awarded to each age group. We urge pumpkin painting contestants to pick up their work after awards are issued.
Monster Craft Night will take place Tuesday, October 18th at 6 PM. Create and decorate your very own pet monster with us! This craft is free to attend. Space is limited, please stop by circulation desk or give us a call at 402-375-3135 to participate.
On the 19th and the 20th, join us for a special Toddler Time with Pumpkin Painting! Wear messy clothes and prepare to paint your masterpieces for our Pumpkin Painting Contest! Pumpkins will be provided.
In correspondence with the Chamber Fall Thing, the library will be hosting Halloween/Fall-themed photo shoot sessions on Saturday, October 22nd from 1-3 PM in the back of the library. Stop in and sign up the day of the event to participate. Digital versions of the photos will be sent to email patrons list on the sign-up sheet. Participating is free!
Book Club will be returning for discussion on October 25th at 6:30 PM in the library conference room. This month's discussion book will be The Midnight Library by Matt Haig. Matt Haig's unique novel The Midnight Library ponders the infinite possibilities of life. It is about a young woman named Nora Seed, who lives a monotonous, ordinary life and feels unwanted and unaccomplished.
Stop by the library to trick or treat on Halloween, October 31st from 4-6 PM. Play our sidewalk challenge, grab a treat, and take pictures with our spooky decorations!
