[ARCHIVED] Meter Readings Will Be Estimated for next Utiltiy Billing

Due to the large amounts of snow and ice received recently, for January (and possibly the next month or two), all residential water and electric meters will be estimated for billing purposes. All commercial meters will be read by a meter reader as always.

Final readings will still be taken and actually read when someone moves out of a residential unit.

To estimate a reading, our computer system takes 33% of the usage of the previous two months, and then 34% of the usage from the same time period from a year ago and adds these amounts together to arrive at the estimated consumption. We have had a couple of employees read their own meters to get their true usage to see how the estimation compares to the actual reading, and it is pretty much right on.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the City Clerk's office at (402) 375-1733.
