[ARCHIVED] 2012 NATP Roadeo Winner News Release

Fred Krenk, one of three van drivers with the City of Wayne Transit program, represented Wayne at the 2012 Nebraska Association of Transportation Providers (NATP) Statewide Roadeo on September 19th in Kearney at the Nebraska Safety Center Driving Range. Fred Krenk's accumulated score from four testing sections placed him in second place in the van division competition.

The Roadeo competition includes training and timed skills and procedures on proper methods of van pre-trip inspection, wheelchair securement, and a written test over technical passenger assistance and the Nebraska Drivers Manual. The Roadeo driving skills competition included a timed driving obstacle course that judged the drivers skills at eleven stations. A few examples of the challenging course were left and right hand reverse, passenger pickup, serpentine, and smoothness of driving operation for passengers all on the driving range.

Fred was competing against nine van drivers from all over the state with the first- and second-place winners advancing to the national competition in Albuquerque, New Mexico which will be held from June 2nd to June 7th in 2013. Fred Krenk, van driver, and Penny Vollbracht, manager of the Wayne Senior Center, both will attend the national competition to represent the City of Wayne.
