[ARCHIVED] Walking Trail Closed Under Hwy 35 Bridge

WAYNE POLICE DEPARTMENT

PRESS RELEASE

Flood Damage Causes Portion of Walking Trail to Close

The recent flood waters in Logan Creek has caused considerable damage to a portion of the walking trail and creek bank and has been deemed unsafe. Even though the water levels have dropped, the after effects of erosion from the swift moving water has undermined the integrity of the trail itself.

Barricades were placed on the trail from Henry Victory Park trailhead on South Main Street up to South Nebraska Street near Roosevelt Park to warn of the danger, however those barricades were being ignored. Fencing is being installed to completely close off the damaged area under the South Main Street bridge until necessary repairs to stabilize the situation can be completed.

Pedestrians should not enter the fenced work zone and also ensure that children are not in the area unattended or unsupervised. Failure to comply with the posted notices could result in a citation or court appearance.
