The City of Wayne has four sets of traffic signals. These signals are owned by the Nebraska Department of Roads, but are maintained by the Electric Distribution Department. The signals are located at the intersections of:
The signal near 7th and Sherman is mainly used as a school crosswalk for children crossing 7th Street (Highway 35) coming and going to school, and not for traffic control.
The City also has two other lighted school crosswalks, one at the intersection of 5th and Main Street and the other is on 7th Street between Walnut Street and Windom Street. These crosswalks are in operation from 7:15 a.m. to 9:15 a.m. and 3:15 p.m. to 4:15 p.m. on weekdays during the school year. Motorists should be aware of people in the crosswalks at all times.
